Happy Sunday Stylistas! Hope everyone is having an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. The weather in NYC is very cooperative today :) No rain! Well, I have some news to share. I received my first styling assigment today! Now, this assignment is not only special to me because its my first, it's special because its going to be anonymous! So how did I get the assignment? Glad you asked. Let me share something with you. If you know me, you know that I have a heart to help those who are in need. If I see a need, I look in every way to fulfill it.  There is a young woman who is very dear to my heart and she's going through a hard time in her life right now. I have been praying for her and God impressed upon my heart to bless her in this way. This sister is aways fashionable, so this is not a difficult task for me to accomplish. If you have previewed my lookbook and "Style Inspiration" page, you will see some of the ideas I have in mind for this assignment.  I feel very blessed and honored to be able to do this and cannot wait to see the look on her face when I present her gift!

Be Blessed to Be a Blessing!
Enjoy the Sunshine ~

(The below pic is just a "style inspiration" which I created on Polyvore. It won't be the actual gift, but I'm loving this color scheme I have here)

Hello Stylistas. Hope you had a fab weekend! I stopped in to another favorite store of mine, Sephora. I initially went only to purchase a face wash, but wound up purchasing two additional items. Let's start with the face wash. I bought Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash.  Well let's see, I not only bought this for the name (Fabulous) but also because it's a 2 in 1 cleanser. If you are like me, who doesn't exfoliate often (rarely) then this product may also be for you!

It exfoliates and cleanses. Plus it contains chamomile, rose hips and passion flower and it smells great too! Here, less is more. It doesn't actually foam up much so you may wonder how it exfoliates (the secret is in the microbeads...shhh). The plus is, it leaves your face feeling fresh, toned and moisturized after you wash. I have combination, but also super sensitive, skin.
So at times the mildest cleansers leave my face feeling dry and stripped, and by far this hasn't (this is my second time using it). It's a bit pricey at $24 for a 6.6 oz bottle, but it's your face y'all. And if you have problems finding the "right" cleanser like me, then you should give this a try. They have a mini version for $9 which is the one I first tried.

Now, the Bliss line also carries a facial moisturizer (in keeping with the fabulous theme) however I'm not just ready to spend $36 a jar on it! That being said, I opted to purchase Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. This also comes in a lotion, however, I bought the gel because it's lighter for the summer time and cheaper at ($13) for a 1.7 oz tube. This moisturizer feels like you are putting water on your face. It does not have an oily feel to it, but it does moisturize (it's actually geared towards combination/oily skin). It also has a "spa-like" scent to it. It contains cucumber extract and barley extract.

My last purchase was perchance, if you read my prior blog about "bare lips...sheer lips...bright popping color" you will understand that I wasn't even supposed to purchase this gloss! However, a friend of mine works at this particular Sephora (no discounts, just lots of samples of new stuff to try!) and I just happened to see her while I was there and told her "I was browsing for a gloss" why did I say that?! Lol! So she took me first to the Dior counter to see their colors for spring/summer.

Now, Dior used to make this popping chocolate colored gloss, but they apparently discontinued it and I wasn't feeling any of the colors (or the prices!) so we moved on to the "Sephora" brand. Believe it or not a lot of people don't go into Sephora to purchase their brand. Besides actual name brands are better right? (what did I just tell y'all bout Dior?) So she shows me this gloss. The packaging is sleek and it's a twist tube which means it twists up just the right amount of color. I tried it on (at first I thought it was a bit bright but after some slight convincing, I fell for it!) So I purchased Sephora's Volume Booster Gloss Serum ($15) number 8 "in love" it's a bright magenta color that slides on smoothly. It's not sticky or tacky. Doesn't need to be reapplied often. Has tons of color power and a slick shine. It actually looks like a glossy lipstick on, more than an actual lipgloss. Now, the only con I have is the gloss itself is slightly hard to remove which means your lips will have a temporary berry stain (pinkish color, which may be good or bad depending on your mood!) Not convinced? Ok check me out below. And check out a picture of the actual other products I purchased as well ;) (I've attached the link for Sephora to the products picture, in case you want to check it out!)

Hello Stylistas!

It's the middle of May, which means Memorial Day (the unofficial, official start to summer) is around the corner and there will be plenty of invites to cook-outs, picnics, amusement park trips, vacations and beach visits.

Now, I'm not really overboard on make-up, but I do like my lip gloss to be popping! (MAC "oh baby" lipglass and Dazzleglass "Like Venus" and "Money Honey" are a few of my favorites) But on days when your just hanging with the kids or relaxing at the beach with a good "kindle" do you really reach for the make-up bag and pile on the lip color? Of course lips have to be kept
protected a good SPF based product should always be applied. But seriously NARS or MAC gloss on a sandy beach? So what should you apply?

Well, right now I'm liking C.O. Bigelow's Mentha Lip Shine in Bubblemint. This gloss slides on cool and it leaves a bubblegum/mint taste on your lips (just try not to lick it off and apply more) it's infused with 0.25% peppermint oil which is naturally good for your lips to prevent against chapping. It also leaves a nice shine on your lips.  I'm not too sure of the SPF content. I picked this gloss up at Bath & Body Works and it was $7.50. (Please note I have not been compensated by BBW to promote this product. I just happen to like it a lot!)

So chicas, for the summer, is it your preference to go bare lipped, sheer lipped or to wear bright
popping color?

Enjoy the Sunshine!

Bath & Body Works is one of my favorite stores for shower gels & lotions ;) They are always coming out with a new fragrance, some intriguing mix that makes me stop and wonder "who thinks of these combinations??" In continuing celebration of  Spring/Summer, today I picked up two out of three of Bath & Body Works newest fragrances:  Wild Citrus Sunflowers & Wild Berry Tulips.  I'm not quite sure how I feel about Wild Apple Daffodils. (My favorite of the two is Wild Citrus Sunflowers its a fresh floral, just stepped out the shower fragrance. Ironically speaking, I only purchased shower gels today. My lotion run will be at a later date) Have any of you stylistas tried these new fragrances yet?

I also picked up an old time favorite, Moonlight Path. I like the
powdery scent of this classic fragrance. What are some of your favorites from
BBW?

Lastly, I could not go in there and not pick up a mothers day gift :)

Enjoy the Sunshine!

So, in my inbox today I received my daily fashion dose from Nordstrom. The email header said "Summer's Perfect 10:  Everything You Need Now" YIKES! They were not kidding! Below you will see a guide of the 10 hottest items for the summer season. My personal faves are numbers 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 9!
1 - Beautiful white summer jewelry! Anyone who knows me, knows I cannot get enough of accessories!!! This lovely white beaded statement necklace with the goldtone chain ($48 @ Nordstrom) is the perfect accessory for a beautiful long, flowy dress and a pair of flat sandals (see item number 5 for sandal ideas!)
3 - Colorful Wedges. All I will say is I DO! Wedges, in my opinion, are the perfect way to give stable height to an outfit. I dont know about you, but, I do not like walking the city streets feeling like I'm about to topple over! Wedges balance me out and these colorblocked beauties have my eye...
5 - Don't Call me Flat-Foot! As much as I love wedges I believe I love flats even more! They are perfect for subway traveling, shopping, running errands at lunch during work, shopping, going to the beach, shopping! Okay, you get the hint. These are embelished, which makes your pedicure pop just a little bit more :) The "Fergie Energy Sandal" is listed on their site for $79.95, but for stylistas on a budget like me, embellished flat sandals are a popular item this season and can be found for less of a "splurge" at Macy's Charlotte Russe and Forever 21 or your other favorite store/boutique.
6- Some like it High...Some Like it Lo - Ah, the Bellatrix Chiffon Halter Print Hi-Lo dress is divine! ($98.00 splurge). The colors blend beautifully in this dress and it just looks so light, airy and feminine. Ultra-Chic!
7-Pretty Polished - Absolutely, love the pop of colors from NARS (I really fancy the Nars brand a lot) BUT if you are opposed to paying $18.00 a pop for these polishes (I digress) O.P.I. has also stepped up to the plate with fantastic, superfab colors for half the price ($9.50). That NARS yellow polish is waving at me though! Do you see that?
and last but not least, 9- The Boyfriend Shirt. In sheer, flowy materials and prints that he would never wear! A smart way to stay cool and comfy.

Catch ya later stylistas!  xoxo ~ Farah Andrea
