Hello Stylistas! Let’s welcome the sun.  Summer is in full swing and that means shorter hemlines with higher platform wedges or ultra low cut cleavage bearing tops and dresses.
We all know that summer time means time to show off all that hard winter work in the gym (or not), and showing off our beautiful, flawless (or not) skin.  But as a young, Christian woman, how can we maintain our cool without “being led into temptation” and raising the temperature of the brothers around us? Glad you asked! And no, every outfit does not have to be a loose fitting dress, that is three sizes bigger than your actual size, and I promise you I won’t propose any turtleneck styles here either.  Below are just a couple looks I’ve put together as an example, to show that you can “Delight Yourself in the Lord” and represent Christ while looking fashionably, chic in the latest trends as well.  Pops of color are so in right now and this charming, full of color, floral dress is sure to be your summer “glam”dress. Paired with pastel yellow pumps and accented with colorful accessories, gives just the right amount of “hello summer” to this outfit.

Think of a striped black and white canvas that you wanted to paint the perfect picture on. There is just something about yellow and black that is very eye catching. This long, stretch maxi skirt is super comfy and just the right “lounging” piece for a relaxing weekend away. The pops of color in this outfit give it just the right amount of flair.

This outfit is my absolute favorite. Color blocking is another on trend and the brighter the better! The
painted patent floral heels, exude femininity and pull the look all together…Cool and classy!
Accessorize this outfit with gold-tone studs and a gold-tone wrap bracelet for just the right touch of glam.

Wanna just kick back and relax? Or got a fun day planned with your boo or your girlfriends? Then this outfit is for you! How cute are these heart shaped "sunnies" and POPS of color are so, so in right now! That "The Avengers" tank is everything and cute and colorful accessories pull this look together effortlessly.

(Note:  I created the above looks using Polyvore (my favorite styling site!), which gives the links for where to find the items, as well as the prices of each item.

So there you have it.  Modesty does not mean monastery! “I’m a Christian Woman and I CAN wear that!”

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and were able to get some ideas!

Hello again lovelies ;) Hope everyone had a beautiful day. As promised, here are the results from using the Curls Unleashed "Set It Off" Curl Boosting Jelly. So, I took my hair down this morning and it didn't have the same dry, crunchy effect as when I use my Ecostyler, but it was not as shiny looking as when I do use my Ecostyler! (This may be because I didn't wash my hair last night, I simply tested the product on dry, clean, no products, day old washed hair.) Overall, I am looking forward to using it again on just washed hair. It gave my twists good curl definition and my hair didn't puff up at the end of the day. Would I recommend it? Yes, I feel it's worth a try. However, I do wish they sold smaller sizes for
trial purposes. I wouldn't really nominate it as my "go to styling product" but in comparison to a regular gel, I would prefer this product. I will be trying other products from the line so I will keep you posted!

As for my OOTWD (outfit of the work day) I kept it pretty simple and low key today. My top has a colorful, earthy, geometric pattern on the front and in the back it's a plain beige color. I'm wearing plain brown slacks, and the outfit is pulled together by my cream bow patent flats.

Picture
The back of my top. The top has a Hi-Lo design.

My accessories:
My earrings are from a NYC craft fair and they are made from pressed chestnuts (I believe that's what the lady said, but please don't quote me!) from the Ukraine ;)
My ring is a bright, coral (orange) globe design from Charming Charlie.
My fashion "boyfriend" watch is also from Charming Charlie, and it reps a blinged out, bronzed colored face and a tortoise shell print band.

The Little Details: Interested to know where & how much?
Clothing:
Geometric pattern earth toned Hi-Lo top - Steps NYC $14.99
Brown slacks - Blinking Genie $10.00
Cream colored, patent bow flats - Nordstrom Rack $29.99

Accessories:
Sorry, I don't have any details on my earrings. As I mentioned I purchased them at a craft fair.
Globe shaped coral ring - Charming Charlie $9.97
Fashion "Boyfriend" tortoise shell watch - Charming Charlie $19.97

As always, thanks for stopping by Stylistas!

Hello Stylistas! Thank you for stopping by once again. This is a review on Queen Helene Royal Curl vs. Curls Unleashed (by Organic Root Stimulator). On Sunday, I picked up from Rite-Aid  the shampoo and conditioner ($9.29 each) from the Queen Helene "Royal Curl" line (they also have a curl creme, but I did not even look at it, as I was just shopping for shampoo and conditioner). Now, I know Queen Helene used to be good for their cholesterol (back in my days when I used to have a relaxer, so I figured, "hey, why not give this a try??) The shampoo's ingredients boast Sea Kelp, Vitamins A, C, D, E and K and Royal Jelly to name a few. The conditioner boasts the same ingredients as the shampoo, in addition to olive fruit (olive oil). Both products claim to be free of sulfates, petroleum, parabens & phyhalates. So I figured, okay this stuff should be good for my hair. The packaging on the moisture rich conditioner states: "locks in essential nutrients to rehydrate, detangle and smooth thirsty hair", what the packaging doesnt list on the front is that the conditioner does have "Behentrimonium Methosulfate." Well, isnt that in the "sulfate" family???

Picture
Still trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, I washed my hair with the shampoo. The washing process was not half bad and my hair felt refreshed and moisturized not stripped.  Moving on to step two, I applied the conditioner.

Picture
I apply the conditioner and my hair goes into shock! This is the worst conditioner I have ever used in my hair! I felt like I was applying a regular sulfate based shampoo! It was not moisturizing at all. It sat on top of my hair and forget trying to detangle it. I looked in the mirror "oh the horror!" It was a good thing I had a bit of Herbal Essences "Hello Hydration" Conditioner left, which I added on top of it, as well as some honey and olive oil.  After leaving that mixture on my hair for about 45 minutes I rinsed it out, and low and behold it was still dry and tangled (insert angry face here). As a recovering "product junkie", I also had in my supply drawer Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner, which saved the day, as I applied it and took almost an hour to detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb. Never again would I try anything from the Queen Helene Royal Curl line. As I said, the shampoo was not half bad, but the conditioner, was the worst! I'm wondering if they got the labels mixed up during manufacturing and put the ingredients for the shampoo in the conditioner and vice versa! Hence, FAIL!

A picture of somewhat happy hair! Moving on to the Curls Unleashed review. I must say I'm very happy with my first test product so far!

Picture
So yesterday, I purchased the Curls Unleashed, Set It Off (I like that name) Curl Boosting Jelly. (After the trauma I caused my hair on Sunday, I felt I owed it an apology).  At first, I was not going to purchase it. One, because I felt it was a bit (a whole lotta) pricey for a "gel" (compared to my Eco-Styler Gel at $2.99 in the city, $1.99 at my local beauty supply) but after reading reviews on it, I decided to give it a try. The texture of the product is similar to Miss Jessie's Curly pudding, although it is slightly less dense. It smells amazing (like a fruity, candy scent, yet it does not have that overbearing "grape flavored" scent like the Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding, although to be honest that scent never truly bothered me, even though other "curlies" have given the MJ pudding negative reviews just on the scent alone, I do not care much for it for other reasons). The curl boosting jelly appears blue-purple in the jar, but it's actually a clear gel on your fingers and goes on clear when applied.  It only takes a small amount to work. Simply, take a little between your fingers and pull it through your hair, you will notice your curls starting to "awaken" immediately and what I also liked about this product is it does not cause shrinkage. I two strand twisted my hair with this product tonight and I will post my results along with my OOTD on my follow-up blog tomorrow.  The main ingredients in this gel are water, aloe vera and wheat germ oil. Now, as I mentioned on instagram, I have to find this product cheaper if the "Curls Unleashed" line is going to become my new best friend. I purchased this product from Rite-Aid and it was $15.99.  I also noticed they carry the "Lavish in Lather" sulfate free shampoo ($13.99 @ Rite Aid) the "No Boundaries" Leave-In Conditioner (also $13.99 @ Rite-Aid) and the "Take Command" curl creme (which reminded me of Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie, so I did not venture to buy it) ($15.99 @ Rite-Aid).  The one product that I was interested in purchasing, Rite-Aid did not have, and that is the "No Restrictions" Moisturizing conditioner, which comes in a jar.  On the Curls Unleashed website, it says that the No Restrictions conditioner can be used daily for co-washing, detangling and conditioning.  For the price (not sure how much it is, but nothing else in their line appears to be under $13.99) I would use it as a deep conditioner.  I have attached the link to the above picture of the "jelly" for the Curls Unleashed website, for your reading review leisure.  So there you have it. I cannot wait to take my hair out in the morning! For now, I'm signing off to say Goodnight stylistas...

As always, thank you for stopping by!
