Hello fabulous Stylistas! TGYF! (THANK GOD YOU'RE FABULOUS!) Hope you all had a productive week and have some posh plans for the weekend :)
Onto a "personal" tip, I was just wondering how many of you know that I offer personal shopping services? Need help finding an outfit for a special event? Want to update your wardrobe with pops of color, vintage style or some new trends?  Here is a little information about just what I offer:

SIMPLE & CONVENIENT
Shopping is something I enjoy doing because I love visuals and putting outfits together ;) However, sometimes it can be a bit of a tedious task for some women who do not enjoy the shopping experience and just want "the exact items the mannequin has on." There are also some of us who do not want to "display" every inch of our curves. I'm of the belief that yes, there is a way to dress modestly and be sexy. No such thing you say? Well allow me the opportunity to share my personal styling tips to help you create "The Look."

THE BASICS
The first thing I do is "consult" with you. When someone initially contacts me to inquire about my styling services, I send them an email questionnaire to get to know their likes and dislikes. My personal shopping for you is just that, its personal. I never style two people the same way because each of us have unique personalities. Pink may be my signature color, but you may like aquamarine, which looks wretched on me! I tailor my service to meet your needs.

RATES
I charge a rate of $50 an hour (there is a minimum two hour shopping window) which includes travel time, shipping, packaging and pictures of the purchased item(s). If something needs to be returned, I will do one free return and send you pictures of the new item(s). Any additional returns are $25 each.

PAYMENT
Depending upon how many items you request for me to purchase, for example, if someone wanted $100 worth of blouses I would tell them how many they could get for a $100, along with how long it would take if they required me to get them all from the same store or if something was needed for a special occasion and I had to go to several stores.

This way I can set my fee, as well as how much you want me to spend on clothing, accessories, shoes, etc. and send you an invoice via email. You can either submit your payment through PayPal or send me a check.

So allow me to help you and don't forget to tell a friend!

To contact me for a personal shopping appointment email me at
[email protected]

Thank you for your ongoing support! I appreciate you!
xoxo Farah Andrea

Hello Luvs! Hope the start to your work week was stylish & productive! If you are on my FB page, Farah Andrea ChicMix, you will know that I started a new giveaway yesterday, the Satin Hands set from Mary Kay. The lovely rep from Mary Kay is ironically named Farah! I located her on instagram and we started chatting, because we had two things in common, our names of course and the love of everything beauty & fashion related. Farah contacted me regarding doing a giveaway of some of the Mary Kay products that she sells and I was all for it. There's an added bonus to collaborating with her to do the Mary Kay giveaways, she also carries men's products, a plus if you want to enter the giveaway to give that "special someone" or family member a gift. I have a few male readers and followers on FB who have asked me, where are the "dude" giveaways?!

So I asked Farah how she became involved with selling Mary Kay and she said " I was introduced to the business a year ago while I was still in school. I was shopping at H&M and my now director approached me. I love make up and skin care, so starting up was a no brainer for me." From our communications, I can tell that Miss Farah is an ambitious, driven, dedicated, professional young woman with an amazing personality! She's super nice y'all! She is offering a 10% discount of any first time purchase, made on her website, of $40 or more to my all readers and followers on my FB page.  Shipping & handling is free!
Kindly check out her site for all your Mary Kay needs!
www.marykay.com/fseverin

For those of you who may not have heard of "Satin Hands", here's a brief description that Farah sent me:
"The satin hands is excellent for removing dead skin cells on the hands and feet. It's a three step kit. There is a softener which helps prep the skin for exfoliation. Then  to ensure the hands and/or feet are moisturized the peach scented lotion is the last step. This set is perfect for anyone who enjoys pampering themselves at home".
So luvs, visit my Facebook page, Farah Andrea ChicMix, click "like" (if you haven't already) check out the giveaway pic and follow the giveaway entry rules for your chance to win!  THIS GIVEAWAY ENDS AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT!!!

As always, thanks for stopping by!
Enjoy the sunshine (even on the cloudy days)

Hello Stylistas! How y'all doing in the heat-wave??? What are some of the ways you are trying to stay cool? I've opened this post up to present topics for open discussion. As I mentioned in my previous post, when I started this website back in May, one of the things I created it to be is an interactive forum to discuss topics that would be of interest to my readers.

So tell me what holds your interest? What would you like to read more about? What fashion trends, beauty or health topics are of interest to you right now? How are you liking the giveaways I've been hosting?

I'm taking a poll, what should the next giveaway (August) item be? Beauty samples?
Random accessories? Iphone case? Gift card? Hmmmm! Let me know your thouughts.

Let me also take a moment to thank you for stopping by and being one of my readers! I appreciate you! Especially when there are so many other bloggers in the "blogosphere"!

And I'm off! On my way to get ready for a bridal shower (no. not mine...but one day!)

So Luvs, I do hope to keep you interested ;)
Don't forget to comment below with your suggestions or questions. Every comment will receive a reply ;)

Hello luvs! I hope everyone had a spectacular 4th of July! For those of you who have the rest of the week off...lucky!!! For you dolls like me who had to go back to work after the holiday...well at least tomorrow is Friday!

Now if you are affiliated with me on FB, you know about the giveaway I'm currently hosting. I call it "Spa Bliss" because it's beauty relevant and the fragrance of the bath set is truly reminiscent of being at a spa. I'm not a citrusy type of
girl...however, this scent is not overbearing (it doesn't smell like Tropicana OJ or Ruby Red Grapefruits) it has a light citrus/floral aroma. I've personally used bath products from Avon and I like them. This line is called Avon Naturals.
The shower gel produces lots of lather and doesn't dry your skin. The lotion leaves a silky feel to your skin and the mist doesn't have that heavy alcohol "sting" to it.

The sponsor for this giveaway is Avon through one of their Reps, Nichole Laverne. Nichole is an independent beauty consultant for Avon and she has been selling their products for the past couple of years. I know her personally (forever and a day) and she's the sweetest, most genuine
down to earth person around!

So, if you happen to be the lucky winner of this giveaway and are interested in looking for additional Avon products to purchase, or just have general beauty questions about which products may be right for you, check out Nichole Laverne's page on Facebook.

Good luck loves!

Enjoy the Sunshine! (even on the cloudy days)

Saying Hello with a smile! Welcome to my random thoughts. I am pretty much freestyling this post, so there is no set topic to it. I wanted first to say THANK YOU to all of you who stop by just to browse, read or see what I have been up to.  As many of you may or may not know, I started this blog journey in May of this year. I always had the passion to do something fashion related, but believe I am too shy to be a You Tube "vlogger" so I decided to give blogging a try. The competition is fierce!! But guess what? My God is BIGGER than the competition and He's actually taken me a different route! What I thought this website should be about, God has shown me something completely different and has given me a different strategy, that I am slowly working on. I feel blessed to have met so many different people on my "blog journey"  I have also been blessed to be able to collaborate with so many different and unique boutiques to be able to host giveaways of trendy, fashion forward and fabulous items.

A word of encouragement to anyone out there who may be considering starting a blog or an online business, just go ahead and do it! Always remember that there is room for more than just one, and yes even though someone's blog or website may get looked at far more than yours does, it does not matter, just keep doing it because you enjoy doing it and watch God work things out in your favor! We all enhance each other in one way or the other. "One hand washes the other." Try washing your hands using just one hand and see just how clean it will get! Remember in order to get to the top, you have to start at the bottom. Never compare yourself or your talents with anyone else! God made you unique. You are not a carbon copy. Don't try so hard, but never give up either. And Never EVER beat yourself up, if it does not work the first time around. If at first you dont succeed...dust yourself off and try again! Never give up on your dreams or lose focus of the talents and gifts that God has placed in you. I'm not sure who needed to read this, but I felt it needed to be put out there :)

Lastly, if you don't know ths about me, here's one random thing...I LOVE UNIQUE EARRINGS!!! That being said, yesterday I went to the African Arts Festival in Brooklyn and I purchased the earrings shown in the picture above. What do you guys think? I LOVE THEM :)

Remember...

Hello lovelies! Happy Sunday! I took a mini-break, but I'm back ;) On my "featured boutiques" page I mentioned a couple different online boutiques, that I recently came across for you ladies to check out for the latest accessories and fashions. As part of my researching, I've managed to get in surprises for y'all!! (I love giving presents!) Here's the news, so far two of the boutiques that I mentioned have collaborated with me to host giveaways!!! (PRESENTS!!)

Now this means you will have to be a daily reader to stay informed as to when the giveaways will take place. (That means check here, check Facebook and if you are on Instagram check there too!) You don't have to check all three daily, but check at least one because I will be posting daily!

If you check my facebook fan page (Farah Andrea ChicMix) you will see today's giveaway, sponsored by AmourXNYC.
AmourXNYC is based in St. Louis, MO and I've realized that St. Louis has some of the most bomb fashions and fashionistas. The owner of this online boutique is super sweet, has a professional business manner (I didn't have to wait until infinity and beyond to receive my package) is inspiring (we are sisters in Christ) and sells the best quality of goods. Y'all know I would not promote anything I would not personally wear or invest in. Below is a picture of what I purchased from AmourXNYC:

As you can see, this dress is so bomb! Most of her items come in "one size fits all" and they are true to fit.

When, I initially spoke to the owner of AmourXNYC about doing a giveaway, she was ecstatic! She sent me pics of items that are in her inventory that she has not even posted to her website yet! I made a selection and I was pleasantly surprised when I received the gift!

Above is a picture of the Giveaway item.  Beautiful right? Fabulous? Yes!

So run over and check out this fab giveaway on my facebook page (Farah Andrea ChicMix).
It ends on July 4th!
Have fun! & Best wishes!!

Hello Stylistas! Let’s welcome the sun.  Summer is in full swing and that means shorter hemlines with higher platform wedges or ultra low cut cleavage bearing tops and dresses.
We all know that summer time means time to show off all that hard winter work in the gym (or not), and showing off our beautiful, flawless (or not) skin.  But as a young, Christian woman, how can we maintain our cool without “being led into temptation” and raising the temperature of the brothers around us? Glad you asked! And no, every outfit does not have to be a loose fitting dress, that is three sizes bigger than your actual size, and I promise you I won’t propose any turtleneck styles here either.  Below are just a couple looks I’ve put together as an example, to show that you can “Delight Yourself in the Lord” and represent Christ while looking fashionably, chic in the latest trends as well.  Pops of color are so in right now and this charming, full of color, floral dress is sure to be your summer “glam”dress. Paired with pastel yellow pumps and accented with colorful accessories, gives just the right amount of “hello summer” to this outfit.

Picture
Think of a striped black and white canvas that you wanted to paint the perfect picture on. There is just something about yellow and black that is very eye catching. This long, stretch maxi skirt is super comfy and just the right “lounging” piece for a relaxing weekend away. The pops of color in this outfit give it just the right amount of flair.

Picture
This outfit is my absolute favorite. Color blocking is another on trend and the brighter the better! The
painted patent floral heels, exude femininity and pull the look all together…Cool and classy!
Accessorize this outfit with gold-tone studs and a gold-tone wrap bracelet for just the right touch of glam.

Picture
Wanna just kick back and relax? Or got a fun day planned with your boo or your girlfriends? Then this outfit is for you! How cute are these heart shaped "sunnies" and POPS of color are so, so in right now! That "The Avengers" tank is everything and cute and colorful accessories pull this look together effortlessly.

(Note:  I created the above looks using Polyvore (my favorite styling site!), which gives the links for where to find the items, as well as the prices of each item.

So there you have it.  Modesty does not mean monastery! “I’m a Christian Woman and I CAN wear that!”

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and were able to get some ideas!

Hello again lovelies ;) Hope everyone had a beautiful day. As promised, here are the results from using the Curls Unleashed "Set It Off" Curl Boosting Jelly. So, I took my hair down this morning and it didn't have the same dry, crunchy effect as when I use my Ecostyler, but it was not as shiny looking as when I do use my Ecostyler! (This may be because I didn't wash my hair last night, I simply tested the product on dry, clean, no products, day old washed hair.) Overall, I am looking forward to using it again on just washed hair. It gave my twists good curl definition and my hair didn't puff up at the end of the day. Would I recommend it? Yes, I feel it's worth a try. However, I do wish they sold smaller sizes for
trial purposes. I wouldn't really nominate it as my "go to styling product" but in comparison to a regular gel, I would prefer this product. I will be trying other products from the line so I will keep you posted!

Picture
As for my OOTWD (outfit of the work day) I kept it pretty simple and low key today. My top has a colorful, earthy, geometric pattern on the front and in the back it's a plain beige color. I'm wearing plain brown slacks, and the outfit is pulled together by my cream bow patent flats.

Picture
The back of my top. The top has a Hi-Lo design.

Picture
My accessories:
My earrings are from a NYC craft fair and they are made from pressed chestnuts (I believe that's what the lady said, but please don't quote me!) from the Ukraine ;)
My ring is a bright, coral (orange) globe design from Charming Charlie.
My fashion "boyfriend" watch is also from Charming Charlie, and it reps a blinged out, bronzed colored face and a tortoise shell print band.

The Little Details: Interested to know where & how much?
Clothing:
Geometric pattern earth toned Hi-Lo top - Steps NYC $14.99
Brown slacks - Blinking Genie $10.00
Cream colored, patent bow flats - Nordstrom Rack $29.99

Accessories:
Sorry, I don't have any details on my earrings. As I mentioned I purchased them at a craft fair.
Globe shaped coral ring - Charming Charlie $9.97
Fashion "Boyfriend" tortoise shell watch - Charming Charlie $19.97

As always, thanks for stopping by Stylistas!

Hello Stylistas! Thank you for stopping by once again. This is a review on Queen Helene Royal Curl vs. Curls Unleashed (by Organic Root Stimulator). On Sunday, I picked up from Rite-Aid  the shampoo and conditioner ($9.29 each) from the Queen Helene "Royal Curl" line (they also have a curl creme, but I did not even look at it, as I was just shopping for shampoo and conditioner). Now, I know Queen Helene used to be good for their cholesterol (back in my days when I used to have a relaxer, so I figured, "hey, why not give this a try??) The shampoo's ingredients boast Sea Kelp, Vitamins A, C, D, E and K and Royal Jelly to name a few. The conditioner boasts the same ingredients as the shampoo, in addition to olive fruit (olive oil). Both products claim to be free of sulfates, petroleum, parabens & phyhalates. So I figured, okay this stuff should be good for my hair. The packaging on the moisture rich conditioner states: "locks in essential nutrients to rehydrate, detangle and smooth thirsty hair", what the packaging doesnt list on the front is that the conditioner does have "Behentrimonium Methosulfate." Well, isnt that in the "sulfate" family???

Picture
Still trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, I washed my hair with the shampoo. The washing process was not half bad and my hair felt refreshed and moisturized not stripped.  Moving on to step two, I applied the conditioner.

Picture
I apply the conditioner and my hair goes into shock! This is the worst conditioner I have ever used in my hair! I felt like I was applying a regular sulfate based shampoo! It was not moisturizing at all. It sat on top of my hair and forget trying to detangle it. I looked in the mirror "oh the horror!" It was a good thing I had a bit of Herbal Essences "Hello Hydration" Conditioner left, which I added on top of it, as well as some honey and olive oil.  After leaving that mixture on my hair for about 45 minutes I rinsed it out, and low and behold it was still dry and tangled (insert angry face here). As a recovering "product junkie", I also had in my supply drawer Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner, which saved the day, as I applied it and took almost an hour to detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb. Never again would I try anything from the Queen Helene Royal Curl line. As I said, the shampoo was not half bad, but the conditioner, was the worst! I'm wondering if they got the labels mixed up during manufacturing and put the ingredients for the shampoo in the conditioner and vice versa! Hence, FAIL!

Picture
A picture of somewhat happy hair! Moving on to the Curls Unleashed review. I must say I'm very happy with my first test product so far!

Picture
So yesterday, I purchased the Curls Unleashed, Set It Off (I like that name) Curl Boosting Jelly. (After the trauma I caused my hair on Sunday, I felt I owed it an apology).  At first, I was not going to purchase it. One, because I felt it was a bit (a whole lotta) pricey for a "gel" (compared to my Eco-Styler Gel at $2.99 in the city, $1.99 at my local beauty supply) but after reading reviews on it, I decided to give it a try. The texture of the product is similar to Miss Jessie's Curly pudding, although it is slightly less dense. It smells amazing (like a fruity, candy scent, yet it does not have that overbearing "grape flavored" scent like the Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding, although to be honest that scent never truly bothered me, even though other "curlies" have given the MJ pudding negative reviews just on the scent alone, I do not care much for it for other reasons). The curl boosting jelly appears blue-purple in the jar, but it's actually a clear gel on your fingers and goes on clear when applied.  It only takes a small amount to work. Simply, take a little between your fingers and pull it through your hair, you will notice your curls starting to "awaken" immediately and what I also liked about this product is it does not cause shrinkage. I two strand twisted my hair with this product tonight and I will post my results along with my OOTD on my follow-up blog tomorrow.  The main ingredients in this gel are water, aloe vera and wheat germ oil. Now, as I mentioned on instagram, I have to find this product cheaper if the "Curls Unleashed" line is going to become my new best friend. I purchased this product from Rite-Aid and it was $15.99.  I also noticed they carry the "Lavish in Lather" sulfate free shampoo ($13.99 @ Rite Aid) the "No Boundaries" Leave-In Conditioner (also $13.99 @ Rite-Aid) and the "Take Command" curl creme (which reminded me of Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie, so I did not venture to buy it) ($15.99 @ Rite-Aid).  The one product that I was interested in purchasing, Rite-Aid did not have, and that is the "No Restrictions" Moisturizing conditioner, which comes in a jar.  On the Curls Unleashed website, it says that the No Restrictions conditioner can be used daily for co-washing, detangling and conditioning.  For the price (not sure how much it is, but nothing else in their line appears to be under $13.99) I would use it as a deep conditioner.  I have attached the link to the above picture of the "jelly" for the Curls Unleashed website, for your reading review leisure.  So there you have it. I cannot wait to take my hair out in the morning! For now, I'm signing off to say Goodnight stylistas...

As always, thank you for stopping by!
